I love the traditional seaside town or fishing village and think it makes for great photography, as do others judging by the amount of other photographers I see, or maybe it’s the fact that more tourists carry DSLR’s. I liked the harbour wall as a backdrop and the way the boats are similar in appearance in some ways. The Jessica Hettie was taking tourists on tours around the local coastline.

Alas, I found myself browsing my old images and realise that over the years I have probably collected a few undiscovered gems. I love this image mainly for the reflections in the sand. Welcombe mouth has a great sand section which is a really shallow slope so you get long stretches of wave reaching for the inner depths of beach lending itself to the beautiful reflections.

Today I awoke to the news my son had cut his head open so several hours at casualty were the order of the day, even before I could get a cup of tea! It turned out OK though as the cut turned out to be minor requiring just some glue (the nurse told us off for calling it glue its “tissue adhesive” because some people have been getting out the super glue instead.) The thought of work tonight just doesn’t excite me after today, especially as the streets are so quiet due to the “financial crisis”, my new camera body looks further away daily.
Anyway, the photo! After all this is mainly a photoblog right? this is another image from my Somerset jaunt featuring the cairn atop Dunkery hill with the view I’d guess to the east. Its another panorama, scenes like these are hard to do justice without a decent wide angle lens.

As the afternoon was drawing to a close we finished our jaunt at Dunkery hill. The top of Dunkery hill is Exmoor’s highest point at 1,705ft (519m). Thankfully there was some light left once we got to the top to get some shots before the drive home. This image is a 16:9 segment of a panorama I created, as I felt that posting the whole panorama was not practical. I really liked the stones scattered around the peak and felt they along with the grass caught the ebbing sun.
